Maria Ionescu is a geological engineer with a background in oil and gas and a master’s degree in Marine Environmental Protection. Since 2016, she has been a scientific researcher at GeoEcoMar, working in the coastal research and management department. In this role, she conducts seasonal and annual studies on coastal morphodynamics. She is passionate about the environment, dedicating her career to studying and protecting coastal areas.
Currently, she is a PhD student at the Faculty of Geology and Geophysics in Bucharest, with her doctoral thesis “Coastal Sediments dynamics under the influence of vegetation. Applications for the Danube Delta and Romanian Black Sea coast”
In LandSeaLot, Maria is contributing to WP5 – LandSeaLot Integration for the Danube Delta and coastal area, with focus on the coastal sediment budget development under combined human/climate pressures and inputs of pollutants from the Danube River to the North-West Black Sea through the delta.
