WP1 – Coordination & Management

WP1 Lead: DLT; contributors: All

WP1 will set up and run the decision-making structure and bodies that will support the proper development of all technical, organisational and financial aspects of LandSeaLot, allowing the timely submission of Deliverables and other project results.

WP2 - Joint Observation Strategy for the Land-Sea Interface

WP2 Lead: COV; contributors: GEM, COV, IFR, HEREON, SSBE, TEM, CNR, USTIR, CNRS, SMHI, MARIS, HCMR, PML, BC, SYKE.

This work package will co-create, between key observation stakeholders, the LandSeaLot Common Observation Strategy for the land-sea interface. WP2 will foster the transition from fragmented community-based observations to a common strategy and its subsequent implementation plan, supported by appropriate mechanisms for incorporating the outcomes and findings of the project, and for ensuring the commitment of parties and the long-lasting legacy of its outcomes. It will build upon existing communities of practice, which will identify observation gaps to be jointly filled in.

WP3 – Integrated observation and model frameworks

WP3 Lead: HEREON; contributors: BC, USTIR, PML, CNR, IFR, DLT, COV, +ATL, NOR, SKYE, CNRS, HCMR, ULI

This work package will develop, test and benchmark best practices for integrating observations and modelling capabilities to support modelling frameworks, as a stepping stone to the development of the European Digital Twin for the land-sea interface. It will identify gaps, similarities, and complementarities in the current efforts between existing observation networks and services. Based on this assessment, it will provide recommendations and integration, assimilation, and fusion frameworks for improved observations and further harmonisation between the established RIs, networks and services, to be piloted in the Integration Labs. Feedback from the Integration Labs will be incorporated, supporting the consolidation of the framework before its integration in the LandSeaLot Common Observation Strategy.

WP4 – Increasing the observation capacity

WP4 Lead: SMHI; contributors: IFR, HCMR, ETT, +ATL, USTIR, TEM, PML, MARIS, COV and other LILs participants.

This work package will provide the LandSeaLot Integration Labs with technical solutions to collect new in situ observations, contributing to close observation gaps in the land-sea interface, addressing specific challenges. Technical solutions will include low-cost technologies and/or citizen science activities to collect the data. It will establish links with WP6 to guarantee an optimal and a long-term sustainable data flow.

WP5 – LandSeaLot Integration Labs (LIL)

WP5 Lead: CNR; contributors: IFR, HEREON, USTIR, DLT, MARIS, BC, GEM, CNRS, HCMR, SMHI, +ATL, TEM, NOR, SYKE, COV, PML, SSBE

WP5 will demonstrate how increased observation capabilities and innovative integrative methodologies provide essential knowledge to address main societal challenges at the LandSeaLot Integration Labs (LILs).

WP6 – Data Management and services

WP6 Lead: MARIS; contributors: SMHI, ETT, IFR, HCMR, DLT, +ALT, GEM, PML, COV

WP6 objective, following requirements of the LandSeaLot Integration Labs (LILs) are to: 1) support closing observation gaps by developing interoperability solutions for river data, low-cost sensors and citizen science concepts; 2) create a data flow for the involved river, low-cost sensor and citizen science data into EU aggregators; 3) support semantic data interoperability in the coastal area from in situ, remote sensing and modelling; 4) develop data access and visualisation services and interfaces to support the work in the Integration Labs.

WP7 – Communication, Dissemination, Exploitation

WP7 Lead: SSBE; contributors: DLT, HER, IFR, GEM, COV, USTIR, MARIS, SMHI, CNR, TEM

WP7 will maximise the impact of the LandSeaLot project by ensuring effective Dissemination, Exploitation and Communication (DEC) of the project´s activities and its results. WP7 designs, develops, implements and updates the DEC strategy for the project, supporting effective stakeholder engagement and participation across the action. WP7, in collaboration with all work packages, will lead on LandSeaLot’s exploitation strategies, activating paths for uptake of results towards maximising the project impact, legacy and sustainability, including bridging the science-to-policy gap.
