Soraia Romão has a degree in Meteorology, Oceanography, and Geophysics, and an MSc in Geological Engineering from the University of Aveiro. In her master’s thesis, she studied the sediment budget in the coastal sector of Barra – Mira and its relationship with the wave climate. This study involved the use of topo-bathymetric surveys and the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). During her PhD, she delved into numerical modelling, applying this tool to the study of sediment dynamics and morpho dynamics, in the domain of the submerged beach, in relation to shoreface nourishments, with the aim of contributing to the optimisation of sediment management. Soraia has experience in the field of coastal dynamics and has participated in research projects, including field campaigns for the acquisition of hydrodynamic, sedimentary, and topographic data. Additionally, she has conducted experiments using fluorescent and magnetic sediment tracers. Since 2023, Soraia has been collaborating in the field of numerical modelling.
