Ana Oliveira

WP3, WP5 | +ATLANTIC CoLAB

Ana Oliveira is an architect and urban planner, currently dedicated to the interactions between the man-made and natural environments. She is keen on innovative strategies for a more sustainable urban living, and particularly interested in combining data-driven solutions with contemporary aesthetics. After 5 years of professional experience in the private sector, from high-rise buildings in Angola to the school’s refurbishment program Parque Escolar, she altered her career path towards urban-related research activities, dedicating herself full time to the MIT Portugal Sustainable Energy Systems PhD Program. In this context, she has been using satellite-based data and GIS technologies to explore the relationship between urban morphology and climatic response, in order to build an assessment model of urban climatic performance, under climate change scenarios. More recently, she has entered the +ATLANTIC CoLAB, a non-profit association dedicated to bridge the gap between academic research and society needs. Here, she is eager to put her research into practice, and develop its’ application to the benefit of urban societies.
